"Everything Starts With One Woman -The Dynamism of Asian Women"
Junko Koshino (Japan)
Fashion designer

Born in Osaka.
Entered the Design course of the Bunka Fashion College, and was the youngest ever recipient of the "So-en" Prize, said to be the gateway to success for new designers.
After graduating, she took part for the first time in the 1978 Paris collection, subsequently going on to hold shows all over the world, in places such as New York (Metropolitan Museum of Art), Vietnam, Cuba and Myanmar, among others. In 1985, she held a fashion show in a Beijing restaurant that was the largest show held in China, and then 3 years later, in 1988, she held a sports and fashion show at the Beijing Workers Arena.
In 1992, she also held a "Koshino Junko Design Exhibition" at the Beijing City Museum of Chinese History.
She has been active in a wide variety of different fields, from designing costumes for operas and musicals, to sports uniforms and interior design.
Meanwhile, she has also devoted her energies to international cultural exchange, and is involved in a diverse range of activities, being made a 'Cavaliere' (knight) of the Order of the Star of Italian Solidarity in 2006;
being appointed a "YOKOSO Japan Ambassador" by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism in 2008, to encourage tourism among overseas visitors; and being appointed Shanghai Expo Ambassador by the City of Shanghai in 2010.

Spent her childhood in the US, and has been active as a freelance newscaster since the mid-80's. Master's Digree of politics from American University.
Has been a NY correspondent on TV Asahi, as well as TBS, and has appeared alongside Peter Barakan on the "CBS Document" program. From 1998 onwards, has been a newscaster on TV Tokyo's News Morning Satellite from NY studio until 2006.
